by their very nature people are supposed to be dynamic creatures
By their very nature people are supposed to be dynamic creatures in that we change and personally evolve over time.
It is a remarkable event of statistics for a person to find another person that they will be able to negotiate a long term partnership with.
When you think of all the variables for compatibility and change it is quite remarkable to pair up with someone who changes at the same rate as oneself and more so to find someone that will grow and change in ways that are compatible with the changes and personal growth that one makes themselves as well as has the inclination and desire to negotiate a future with you that will last for a lifetime.
For people to stay together in a fulfilling and worthwhile relationship it takes at least as much mutual effort and time as one puts into their job. A relationship is ongoing and requires deliberate ongoing effort and input to succeed. Often times this just doesn't holdup over time as people grow and change in different directions - this does not in any way mean that either party is to blame and more than that is just the way it is. Doesn't make it easier to bear at all. It just is.
It is worth noting too that no matter what happens from here you will still have a realtionship with this person. You might not talk or see each other, but the relationship goes on - it will be up to you and the respect you had for your initial choice what your contribution to the nature of that relationship will be. Will you want to hold on to bitterness and misery? Or will you want to move onwithyour life and wish her all the best with hers - afterall, this was a person that was your choice at one point in time.
No matter the actions of the other person - be mindful that your actions in the face of whatever treatment from others, reflects more the kind of person you are than they are.
NB: this was a repsonse to an aquaintance on a messageboard recently. No reflection on the relationship between ODDBOY and I! We are still all good!

Wanna go on safari with the LIONMAN?

HECK YEAH I WANNA!
In September, fourteen lucky people will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to go on safari for two weeks with Craig ‘The Lion Man’ Busch.ARGHHHhhHH I so wanna!!!
The aim of the safari is to visit some of the most stunning wildlife parks in Africa giving the best possible chances of viewing big cats in their natural surroundings. Adventure travel experts World Expeditions are coordinating the trip to raise much-needed funds for Busch’s Zion Wildlife Gardens.
Of course right now the way things are there are a few really good reasons why of course I cannot! Let's hope this is not the ONLY time Craig does this. Although I cannot imagine it will be something he does often as there is only one Craig to go around at the park as it is!
Find out more at the link below and grab the pdf file of trip details

General Shine update...
Things are pretty emotionally stressful over my way in that roller coaster of ways...
Well aside from the ridiculousness of 8th having gone back to the US and all the heart ache and confusion this is causing I have been working a lot more than I am used to in a variety of different roles and have people wanting all sorts of interesting things from me. This has to occur right at a stage when I wish I had some free time as a close cousin is winding up her current earth journey.
She has been battling some personal demons to do with family and control issues that have manifested in some nasty cancers in places one does not even want to mention and inthe past few weeks she has gone rapidly downhill and is spending what ismore than likely her last few weeks in a hospice at the other end of the country. I find myself waiting for the worst of news...although I think at this stage it is just the worst news for those left behind.
In these kind of times one does discover what sturdy stuff one's family members really are made of. The face and attitude that come out in the worst of times is a true indication of their innerness and canbe a true gift in itself.
My sister is spending a lot of time with her while her own body is deciding whether to finally keep a baby. She is currently in her 11th week of pregnancy - the longest time she has held any of her last 4 pregnancies (first child - 40+ years old...). I find myself wanting to be about the place up there...
Things seem so simple these days and yet also the most complicated ever...
How can that be?!

The Human-Techno Future: How Weird? How Soon?
Joel Garreau notes that regular doublings in computing power are driving unprecedented advances in genetics, robotics, information systems, and nanotechnology. These "GRIN" technologies are following a curve of exponential growth that could redefine life as we know it within 10-20 years (from source article)
My hope is that such radical evolution will also involve vast elements of spiritual awareness that will lead to an environment where soldiers who tell their bodies to stop bleeding and grow back severed hands will not be deemed necessary!
My advice - keep an eye on what your local governments are funding in terms of research and get talking about it amongest your selves. This sort of stuff is what happens when only the top level scientists etc are talking about the future. Don't believe them when they tell you they know the best way to use your taxes. That is the sort of thinking that got us white refined sugar, Mc Donalds and twinkies.

• A telekinetic monkey at Duke University in North Carolina uses its mind to move a robotic arm 600 miles (a thousand kilometers) away in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
• At a Pentagon R-and-D facility in Virginia, program managers aim to create the ultimate warriors—soldiers that can fight without sleeping, tell their bodies to stop bleeding, and regrow lost hands and limbs.
In his new book, Radical Evolution: The Promise and Peril of Enhancing Our Minds, Our Bodies—And What It Means to Be Human, (Random House, 2005), author Garreau describes research so cutting edge it seems mind-boggling:
My hope is that such radical evolution will also involve vast elements of spiritual awareness that will lead to an environment where soldiers who tell their bodies to stop bleeding and grow back severed hands will not be deemed necessary!

So the countdown is on again...
To recap - the latest launch was called off when one of the four engine cut off sensors on the hydrogen fuel tanks (external) failed a 'rountine test' (a problem which actually harks back to April and the cancelation of a May launch).
Although they have not yet actually fixed the sensor problem they are readying for a 'Tuesday' launch it seems.
There will be a continuation of the current troubleshooting and some specific tests to do over the days. Someone is optimistic they will either find a fix or it really isn't the problem it is regulated to be.
It is worrying when I see talk that 'mission managers' are looking into an ammendment of a rule so that the flight could go ahead even if they do not find a fix and only three out of the four sensors are operational.
It's an interesting turn of events, to my mind, after the last few months of what has often seemed like delays at the drop of a hat. It seems to me that the mission managers are giving the wind up and really want to get things 'go for launch' now.
Personally i don't liek the sound of a rule ammendment. They have the rules for a reason - it almost sounds a tad political to be changing them to make a launch happen, not that they actually did that. But it was mentioned.
There is also still the possibility that the launch window could be extended past the July 31st close - but this would mean alterations to mission tasks.
Certainly one must feel for the astronauts.
How would you feel as an astonaut to have spent the last two plus years grounded?
